Me and my Dad were driving around looking for things to photograph around North campus, and after taking a few pictures we saw this column. I love the patterns how ornate the designs are, it was hard to photograph because the road around it was under construction and the pillar was blocked off, but I think that the pictures turned out good regardless. The pillar looked really dark against the sky and you couldn't see the designs well at first, but once I was in the car, I realized the column was much more detailed than I originally thought. I think this is a good reminder that sometimes you have to look for the beauty in dark times.
I have passed this building countless times before. I drive past it to see friends, to go to tournaments, to get food and other normal, random things. But I've never really noticed it before. When I started to really look at it, I realized what a cool building it is. I love the color in the glass and how the building has a smooth curve. I could never work in a building like this considering my fear of heights, but I think it's okay for me to admire it from the ground.
These pictures are all pictures of this really cool really big red sculpture on north campus. Me and my Dad were driving around looking for architecture to photograph, and I didn't even see this sculpture at first. We were turning into a driveway(of a school I think) and suddenly I saw this bright color out of the corner of my eye. So I stopped the car walked up to it and tried to capture some really cool parts of it. It was made of this vibrant red metal and was really cool how it had round soft edges like in Burning Red, but also had some sharper, rougher edges like in Crimson.
This is another building I pass regularly, it's downtown(ish) and on the way to my church. This is the UofM nursing school. I've always loved the way the building curves and the colors of the glass when the sun hits them just right. As showcased in Silver, there's some really interesting brick along with the metal paneling that wraps around the building.
This sculpture is always what draws my eye when I drive past the nursing school. Walking up to it, you cannot see and truly appreciate all of the colors, like in Muted- they're bland colors. But as soon as you look at it straight on, the colors pop out at you and it really draws you eyes. I think this is a good metaphor on perspective - things will be dull and boring and hard, but something as simple as a little change in perspective can make everything seem infinitely better.
